Quality Improvement Committee (QIC)
The Quality Improvement Committee (QIC) at San Luis Ambulance is responsible for ensuring that performance standards are consistently met across all aspects of operations, including staff performance, equipment functionality, and supply management. Real-time scene call assessments are conducted by Field Supervisors and data is analyzed using our electronic patient care report system. We ensure that all patients are treated appropriately by evaluating a wide range of topics including cardiac arrest, stroke, and trauma, as well as various disease processes and County Policy and Procedure. When performance or practices fall short of expectations, corrective measures—such as targeted training or process adjustments—are introduced, followed by reevaluation to confirm that improvements are effective and sustained to meet the demands of patient care with skill, accountability and innovation. QIC meetings are attended by our Medical Director, as well as Clinical and Nurse Managers.
San Luis Ambulance’s QIC, in collaboration with the Emergency Medical Services Agency, supports a very dynamic Field Training Officer Program for Paramedic accreditations, internships as well as input for future equipment, skills and protocols. A large majority of San Luis Ambulance’s FTOs bring more than ten years of experience to their roles. This depth of tenure ensures that high standards of practice are consistently upheld while preserving valuable institutional knowledge. By passing on this expertise, FTOs play a critical role in fostering excellence among the next generation of paramedics, equipping them with the skills, judgment, and professionalism needed to deliver exceptional patient care.
